Using the same silhouettes and the same motifs, Saïdou Dicko (b. 1970, Burkina Faso) questions time, space and identity. Transformed into shadows, his characters roam the world. The artist documents the present and imagines the future. The shadows that spring under his hands take over all temporality. Yesterday, today and tomorrow belong to them. They are the change.
OMAR MAHFOUDI
SUNRISE
2021
Ink and acrylic on paper mounted on canvas
152 x 132 cm
Intriguing, the phantasmagorical bodies featured in the work of Omar Mahfoudi (b.1981, Morocco), are immersed in an unknown environment. There is a call to nature emerging from the paper. That is a call to come back to the origin of the world, to rethink the universe facing its instability. Behind his art, an ecological consciousness arises.
