The company

AFIKARIS is a young gallery launched in August 2018 by Florian Azzopardi with the mission to become a reference destination for African contemporary art. Our ambition is to promote the best portfolio of artists from African and African diaspora, from young artists to already internationally recognized ones. We operate online, but also from our showroom in Paris, Art Fairs (we were in Beirut, AKAA Paris, Cape Town) and temporary exhibitions.

The job

As Business Developer, you will be at the core of the strategy of AFIKARIS with as main missions:

  • Discover and onboard new artists
    • Propose new artists
    • Onboard the artists
    • Organize the launch
  • Manage the catalogue of artists and artworks
    • Manage the relationship with artists
    • Manage the online content of the artists
  • Establish the exhibitions strategy
    • Work on the concept and content
    • Support the setup of the exhibition
  • Establish partnerships
    • This can be very diverse partnerships: with galleries, agents, foundations, museums, etc..
  • Improve the content of Afikaris
    • Build content on artists
    • Build content on contemporary art movements
    • Build content on African contemporary art
    • Build content on Afikaris’ news and art world news
  • Deal with the press

    Right now the objective of the company is to build a great community of talented artists, build up its brand image and a community of collectors and customers who love the brand. You will be are the core of these topics. In addition you will have a lot of magnitude to propose and test new ideas, projects, etc…

    The perfect candidate

    • Has entrepreneur spirit and is willing to propose and test new ideas
    • Is business oriented
    • Is autonomous and owner of his topics
    • Is fluent with social medias
    • Has knowledge, taste and interest for contemporary art and Africa
    • Is rigorous with high attention to details
    • Has good communication skills, oral and written
    • Has a good mastery of the pack Office
    • Has good knowledge of e-commerce

    Recommended experience

    • 1-3 years experience in the art world 
    • Business school or master in Art history (with ideally African contemporary art lessons)

    This would be a full time job, to be provided as soon as possible.
