"African art, in its most recent incarnation in the 21st century, carries the banner of contemporary consciousness through a direct, singular yet universal confrontation with the great challenges of our society, our world. By reinventing the art of portraiture through what is now known as “Black Figuration”, artists have redefined the genre. By going beyond the figure represented as a mirror of contemporary society, portraiture has taken on a new urgency: to affirm the existence of individuals and societies that have been kept on the margins for too long. Africans everywhere!

In homage to the Venice Biennale 2024, in which curator Adriano Pedrosa affirms the presence of these Foreigners Everywhere, the Africans Everywhere exhibition plunges us into this re-figuration of the art world by contemporary African art, through a selection from the heart of the Margaux and Raphaël Blavy Collection.

As part of the AR(t]CHIPEL festival, a partnership between the Centre Pompidou and the Centre-Val de Loire Region, the exhibition takes visitors from the Château de Montgoger, where the collection is housed, to the village of Saint-Épain, to the Musée de la Prévoté, the Salle Jeanne d'Arc (Théâtre de bois) and the church."
