Hervé Yamguen

The first monograph devoted to Cameroonian artist Hervé Yamguen offers an intimate portrait of his artistic journey, bringing together the evolution of his practice in recent years and accompanying his new solo exhibition, Nos géographies intimes (Our Intimate Geographies).

Featuring a selection of artworks, essays by Silvia Forni, Liesje Vandenbroeck, and Princess Marilyn Douala Bell, as well as an interview and a poem by the artist, the publication provides an in-depth perspective on Yamguen’s multifaceted practice and its ongoing development.

Rooted in African cosmologies, ancestral traditions, and the philosophy of Ubuntu, Yamguen’s work unfolds across painting, drawing, sculpture, writing, and performance. Moving fluidly between the spiritual and the everyday, the past and the present, memory and existence, his practice explores the intimate geographies through which individual and collective experiences take shape.
