Opening the year 2026, AFIKARIS gallery is pleased to present Où la terre et le ciel se croisent (Where the Earth and the Sky Meet), the third solo exhibition by Saïdou Dicko at the gallery.
This new series of painted photographs and watercolour paintings draws inspiration from Petit Berger (Little Sheperd), the autobiographical film in which Dicko recounts his early years as a shepherd, walking endlessly toward the horizon in an attempt to touch the sky.
Across the works, figures, shadows, and horizons become sites of passage between the visible and the invisible, the earthly and the celestial. The recurring line where land meets sky is less a destination than a space of learning: a place where movement matters more than arrival, and where knowledge is gained through experience rather than conquest.
With Où la terre et le ciel se croisent (Where the Earth and the Sky Meet), Saïdou Dicko invites us to slow down, to look again, and to inhabit the world as he once did, like a “little shepherd,” attentive to nature’s teachings, moving forward without ever taking the same path twice.
