MARC POSSO IS A PARIS BASED PHOTOGRAPHER WHO WAS BORN IN GABON IN 1996.
He started photography in 2015 and focuses on Africa, the diversity of African cultures and their identity. Marc was a finalist in the Huawei Next Images 2019 competition and then exhibited at the Paris Photo Fair 2019 by the Huawei Gallery. In addition, he has participated in advertising campaigns for brands such as Galeries Lafayette, Karatvanier and Marché Noir Lomé-Paris as well as editorial shoots for Christian Louboutin Beauty, Kente Gentlemen, and Kimpaa. Marc has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Gabon, France and Norway.
More than just highlighting a single culture, young photographer, Marc Posso embraces the diversity and cultural richness that is immersed in the African continent. Having grown up in Gabon, and now living in Paris, he embraces his roots and stages portraits impregnated with a cultural mix. Through his photographic work, he intends to deconstruct the prejudices and stereotypes associated with African culture.
His photographs, with their carefully crafted aesthetic and precise composition, play with the silhouettes of his subjects, the contrast of colours, and the volumes of fabrics to celebrate their history. More than celebrating a culture, Marc Posso enriches his pictorial vocabulary within the encounters with his models, traditions and customs of different countries of the continent to compose his own language. An admirer of the Malian photographer, Malick Sidibé, his photographs have the delicacy and simplicity that made his idol famous. His portraits are thus witnesses of their time and sublimate a cultural richness and diversity.
