Overview
AFIKARIS is pleased to present the second solo exhibition at the gallery by Cameroonian artist Hervé Yamguen.

With Nos géographies intimes (Our Intimate Geographies), Hervé Yamguen continues his exploration of the visible and invisible forces that shape our relationship to the world. The exhibition approaches identity as a sensitive cartography, composed of places inhabited and traversed, inherited presences, narratives, memories, and experiences that continue to resonate within us. Through a body of drawings, paintings, bronze sculptures and masks, the artist gives form to these inner territories where personal history intersects with collective memory, spiritual dimensions and contemporary realities. Extending a practice deeply attuned to the circulations between beings, temporalities and forms of life, Nos géographies intimes (Our Intimate Geographies) unfolds a space of resonances in which the intimate emerges as the very site where the histories of the world are inscribed.

Hervé Yamguen’s work draws on a deep current of consciousness. His art aims to transcend the everyday, to go beyond tangible reality to explore wider spheres of existence. His bronze sculptures, characterized by hybrid beings combining human, animal and plant forms, question the links within the living world, symbolising metamorphoses that celebrate a communion between beings. Through his creations, Hervé Yamguen invites the viewer to a contemplation imbued with wonder, revealing the strengths and beauty of existence.
